Harvard University Recreation

Our facility will open to the residential cohort for the spring semester.
(Residential Cohort refers to Students and Faculty/Staff living in college housing.)

We are so excited to invite you back into our recreation spaces. Here you will find information on the facilities we are opening and how things are going to work. We know this year has been a big adjustment, but we are adjusting with you! As we welcome you back, we will be smiling under our masks and hope you are as well!

Reservation System
In order to adhere to capacity limits and ensure that we are meeting state and local safety guidelines, we will need everyone to make a reservation at least 24 hours in advance. This can be done through our membership portal. Reservations will open for booking one week prior and will be open on a first-come first-serve basis, so please plan accordingly! This means on any Monday you will be able to book a reservation out through the following Monday.

Reservation blocks are one hour in length and are spaced out with a minimum of 30 minutes in between sessions to allow time for our staff to clean and safely welcome the next group of users into the space! You will be also asked to show proof of Crimson Clear completion and check in at the front desk.

If you’d like, take look at facility specifics and reservation times!

Operational Changes
As high-traffic areas that are difficult to enforce social distancing practices, usage of locker rooms will not be available. We understand this will pose some challenges but hope that you can come to our facilities dressed and ready to go for your workout. We will have single-stall restrooms available in all facilities. Please inquire with one of our staff members if you have difficulty locating these spaces. We will still be requiring showers before using the pool and ask that you utilize the units available on deck.

As we try our best to mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19, we unfortunately have suspended all of our towel services. We are currently not able to provide large towels for purchase or sweat towels. Please bring your own.

We also ask that you bring your own tennis racquet and balls but will have a limited supply available. All equipment will be disinfected before and after each use.

Cleaning Procedures
We’ve built in 30-minute disinfection periods between each hour-long reservation group. This will allow our staff adequate time to disinfect all high-touch surfaces and equipment. At 11am, 2:30pm, and 7pm we will be closed for one hour to perform a comprehensive disinfection with the help of our custodial team. This will ensure everyone has the safest experience possible.

Code of Conduct
While we are making our best effort to keep you safe and healthy, it’s on everyone to ensure we all stay safe during these unique times. Here are some guidelines:
- Everyone will be required to wear a face covering while in the facility and working out, except for the pool. You may take your mask off at the end of your lane right before hopping in!
- Workout spaces are separated into pods and different rooms have various occupancy levels. Please be sure to adhere to the new barriers and layouts.
- Please pay attention to signage throughout the facility – this will help you stay informed!
- Please be mindful of where you are walking to ensure you always maintain a safe distance from others.
- Although we will be cleaning throughout the day and closed specifically for deep-cleaning each day, we ask that you continue to wipe down all equipment and machines before and after use.
-The use of courts for basketball or open gym is not available during this time.

These simple requirements will be paramount in keeping everyone safe and facilities open. Failure to follow these requirements could result in your usage privileges being revoked.

We can’t wait to see you!
