In order to be a part of our lifeguarding team, you must meet the following requirements: 

• Have up-to-date American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR, AED and First Aid certifications.
• Successfully complete a skills demonstration:
  • A timed 200 yard swim-tread-swim sequence
  • A timed, submerged object retrieval
  • Demonstration of various rescue skills
• Lifeguarding Skills requirement: Be intimately familiar with proper American Red Cross procedures in all scenarios.
• Past lifeguarding experience is preferred but not required.

We are looking for enthusiastic and passionate instructors to facilitate our certification courses. 

In order to be a part of our instructor team, you must meet the following requirements: 

• Have up-to-date American Red Cross Instructor certifications.
• Successfully complete a skills demonstration.
• Successfully navigate a practice-teach scenario.
• Prior teaching experience is preferred.

Our Front Desk monitors are an integral part of our safety and customer service team at our recreational facilities. We employ Front Desk Monitors at: the Blodgett Pool, the Murr Gym, and the Beren Tennis Center.

In order to be a part of our desk monitor team, you must meet the following requirements: 

• Maintain a high level of customer service for the duration of shifts.
• Be able to accurately and dependably handle money and maintain accounts of payments.

In this position, you will provide effective and safe swim instruction to adults and children participating in private or small group lessons and design individualized programs to meet the participant's interests, abilities, and goals. 

What you'll be doing

• Educate participants on proper technique and promote swimmer safety
• Work with patrons to evaluate their needs and schedule lessons accordingly
• Motivate participants to aide them in achieving their goals
• Effectively evaluate the progress of participants
• Accommodate those with injuries and curate appropriate lesson plans
• Lead small group aqua fitness classes when desired
• Create schedule based on pool hours and member availability
• Administrative duties including curating lesson plans, responding to emails and lesson inquiries, and attending mandatory team meetings/in-services

 What you'll need

• American Red Cross or BLS CPR/AED and First Aid certification – Required
  • American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification – Preferred
  • American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification – Preferred
  • SCUBA Instructor certification – Preferred
• Must be at least 17 years old
• Must possess excellent swimming skills, and the ability to swim 500 yards showing proficiency in the 6 basic swimming strokes
• 3 years’ experience conducting swim lessons for adults and/or children
