Ready to Go from Couch to 5K? Join Harvard Rec’s Running Program!
Have you been thinking about getting into running but don’t know where to start? Whether you’re brand new to running or looking to get back into a routine, Harvard Recreation has the perfect program for you. Introducing Couch to 5K, a five-week guided running and cross-training program designed to build your endurance, improve your fitness, and prepare you to complete the Bionic 5K on Sunday, May 17 at 9:00 AM in Harvard Square. Running can feel intimidating, but with a structured plan and a supportive community, you’ll gradually build confidence and endurance in a safe, guided way. Whether your goal is to complete your first 5K or simply stay consistent with your workouts, this program will help you get there.
With limited spots available, this program provides structure, accountability, and a supportive group environment to help you stay motivated and reach your goal. This program begins April 13th.
Program Details
Program Length: 5 weeks
Race Day: Sunday, May 17 — Bionic 5K (Harvard Square, 9:00 AM)
Practices: 3 times per week
Location: MAC & QRAC
Practice Schedule
Mondays — 5:30 PM Run (MAC)
Wednesdays — 5:45 PM Cross-Training (QRAC)
Fridays — 8:15 AM Run (MAC)
Registration Pricing
- March 9 – March 18: $65 (first 10 people only)
- March 19 – April 4: $75
- April 5 – April 10: $85
- April 11 – April 17: $85 (no bib reimbursement)
Race Fee Reimbursement
Participants who attend at least 10 group practices during the program will have their Bionic 5K race bib cost reimbursed.
