CLASSES AT BLODGETT POOL:

Building Speed and Endurance in Freestyle: Section 1  (75 min class)

This fun and challenging workout class is designed to introduce the intermediate-level swimmer to drills and swim sets that will build efficiency, speed and endurance. Flip turns included. Deep water comfort required.  Fins are recommended (instructor will advise).

Intermediate Swim: All Strokes Workout  Section I (75 min class)

This swim class is for swimmers with basic freestyle and deep water comfort.  You will learn backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly in this class.  Drills and swim sets will help refine your new strokes. Deep water comfort required.  Fins are recommended. (Instructor will advise).

CLASSES AT THE MALKIN POOL

Beginner Swim (55 min Class)

Participants will learn essential breathing techniques in shallow water and develop confidence floating, gliding & treading.  Set a foundation of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and safety strokes skills and prepare for deep water.

Avanced Beginner Swim (55 min Class)

Participants will have learned essential breathing techniques and set a basic foundation of freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and safety strokes skills.  In this advanced beginner class, we will continue to develop the strokes, learn to tread and jump into deep water in order to build confidence and endurance.

Crimson Triathlon Training (2 hours)

Whether training for triathlon session or just looking for a good workout, this two hour class will help you build speed, endurance and strength for all three elements of your competition!

Come prepared for a mini triathlon “anchor” workout with swimming, cycling, and running. Class will introduce techniques to improve distance freestyle and open water swimming, include progressive cycling and running workouts, cover transition skills and discuss race strategies.

Treading Water/Introduction to Freestyle (75 min class)

The principal objective of this class is to help participants pass the Harvard University Swim Test (100 yds) and two minutes of treading water.  Participants will gain confidence in their ability to float and survive in deep water by mastering skills first in shallow water.  Once comfort is achieved, we will start our stroke work with freestyle. Fins are recommended (instructor will advise).

SCUBA DIVING CLASS AT THE MAC

Classroom and pool portion of SDI Open Water SCUBA certification. Course materials supplied.  Class meets on Wednesday evenings beginning February 21st and runs for 7 weeks at the Malkin Athletic Center.  It will include a 200 yard swim in swim suit only. All equipment will be supplied for the pool.  Student must have their own mask, fins and snorkels by pool session 3. Direct all questions to Instructor Jim Estabrook at [email protected] or by phone at 617-628-3387
