 Extreme Rock Climbing Excursion

Tuesday, January 17, 2012 – 2-5pm

Have you ever wanted to try rock climbing but never got around to it? Now is your chance! Please join Harvard Recreation at MetroRock in Everett for their indoor rock climbing facility. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced climber ready to take on the Challenge/High-Ropes Course this event is for you. Transportation, rental equipment, climbing instruction, food and drink will be provided.

Snow Tubing: a New England Tradition

Cruise the slopes of Nashoba Valley's Snow Tubing Park.  Fifteen lanes are serviced by four lifts and the park provides ideal tubing conditions for thrill seekers of all ages.

SkyZone, Indoor Trampoline Park

Friday, January 20, 2012 – 2-5pm

Have you ever seen a facility with 10,000 S.F. of trampolines?! Come experience the SkyZone with Harvard Recreation. This facility comes complete with 48 trampolines in the middle area alone. Not to mention the dodgeball court with 16 squares of trampolines on the floor. The walls in the dodgeball court are covered by trampolines too so you can bounce off them as well! Transportation, food and drink will be provided. Waivers must be signed and returned before you may attend this event.

Experience The Flying Trapeze!!!

Saturday, January 21, 2012 – 1-5pm

Learn knee hangs and backflips, or just swing and smile!  At Jordan’s Furniture Trapeze School you'll work with trained instructors on the Flying Trapeze. Each participant will get ground instruction and then several chances to swing as well as attempt a knee hang and/or a flipping dismount. The trapeze teaches you to focus on the task at hand, encourage others to be the best that they can be, and to move beyond obstacles, whether real or imagined.

Open Saturday, January 14 – Friday, January 20, 2012 – all day every day! (Murr Center)

Come on down to the Murr Center to get your swing on in Harvard’s Golf Simulator.  Play a set course once or as many times as you’d like, each time you play you get another chance to win in a drawing at the end of the week! First come, first served, daily.


Winter Ice Skating Party

You’re invited! Come join the Harvard Recreation Department at the Bright Hockey Center for an evening of ice skating and FREE refreshments. You will enjoy complimentary hot chocolate served alongside sweet treats including cookies and brownies. Don’t have skates? Not a problem, the Recreation Department has you covered. Ice skates will be provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Yoga for Athletes

What do the L.A. Lakers, the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Cubs, Andy Roddick, Evander Holyfield, Kristen Schritter and 2010 PGA Tour Player of the Year Jim Stewart have in common? They all practice yoga! Forget the stereotypes about incense, chanting and stretchy pants. Yoga has countless benefits for athletes of all sports, including: increased core strength, deep breathing that can help to reduce performance anxiety, improved focus and concentration, increased flexibility and range of motion...not to mention yoga is suitable for every body type and every skill level. With Yoga for Athletes, you will develop key cross training strength gained from body weight exercises and dynamic movements that will strengthen and lengthen the muscles. This is an intense workout worthy of any athlete who wants to gain strength--both inside and out. Bring a bottle of water and be prepared to sweat!

Blodgett Pool Royal Regatta

Restorative Yoga

We all work very hard in our lives, whether in class, at a job or on the sports field. While we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. Restorative yoga poses help us learn to relax and rest deeply and completely. Enjoy this 1 hour class of deeply relaxing yoga poses.

Tai Chi

Thursday, January 19, 2012 – 3-4pm (MAC Mezzanine)

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese martial art, characterized by fluid, evenly-defined, circular movements. Practiced slowly, Tai Chi is excellent for decreasing stress and maintaining physical health. Master Lee is the Senior Adviser and Chief instructor to the Harvard Tai Chi Tiger Crane Club.

We’ll then journey over to support Women’s Hockey where the first 100 students will received free t-shirts. Finish the night off by supporting Men’s Hockey, it’s sure to be a Crimson of a day! All three games are Rewards Games!
