Overview: Welcome to the Harvard Men’s
Club Tennis Team! We are a competitive tennis team that practices 3
times a week, all year long. The level of play ranges considerably,
from occasional players to division III Varsity level. We practice
outdoors at the Beren Center from September- November and
April-May, and indoors at the Murr Center from December-March. The
Harvard Club Tennis team welcomes Undergraduates, as well as all
Graduate students, post-docs and members of the Extension
School.
Club life: Your involvement with Club Tennis is
up to you. You may be a lazy recreational tourist or a die-hard
competitor; we’re fine with either (though we prefer the
latter!). Alongside practices and matches, the club offers a
valuable social experience: mixers between the Men and
Women’s teams, occasional dinners around Cambridge, viewings
of Grand Slam tournaments, and a subsidized tour to the US Open on
Labor Day Weekend. Harvard Club Tennis also provides an opportunity
for its members to stay connected after graduation. Through our
email network, graduates in NYC, DC and other areas have found
hitting partners.
Competition: The team participates in bi-weekly
Dual Matches against colleges from the North East (Yale, Dartmouth,
Tufts, BC, Brown, UNH, and more), USTA tournaments and competes at
the New England Sectionals each year to play in the National
Championships in April. Harvard Club Tennis has participated in
Nationals in 2007, 2008, and 2011. Due to limited spots for these
competitions, we expect regular attendance at practice from those
interested in playing on the competitive team. All expenses related
to these events are fully covered by team funds.
