Overview: Originally founded in 1883, the
Harvard Shooting Club is one of Harvard's oldest organizations. The
club became inactive in 2002, until a group of undergraduates came
together to revive it in the fall of 2009. Since then, the HSC has
grown significantly and has offered many opportunities for both
beginners and experienced shooters to safely enjoy multiple
shooting disciplines, including shotgun trap and skeet, and pistol
and rifle target shooting. We now have 50 core team members and
more than 350 people on our mailing list. We have also received
more than $13,000 in funding from a variety of grants and
institutions, including the National Shooting Sports Foundation. In
the spring of 2010, we competed with approximately ten other New
England college teams in the first annual New England Collegiate
Clay Championships. With our new official Harvard club sport status
and our existing financial resources, we plan on training a
competitive shooting team and continuing to provide a safe and fun
environment to introduce shooting sports to all interested Harvard
affiliates.
