Overview: The Radcliffe Rugby Football
Club (RRFC) was born of humble beginnings in 1982, but scrappy
determination, dedicated coaches, and an indomitable spirit have
transformed the club into a team to be reckoned within the
Northeast. In 1998, Radrugby captured her first-ever Collegiate
National Championship, becoming the first Championship team to be
led by an all-female coaching staff. In 2005, RRFC went to Florida
for the national playoffs and finished ranked fifteenth nationally.
In 2006, the team again qualified for nationals and competed at
Penn State.
The Harvard-Radcliffe Rugby Football Club competes in the Ivy
League DI women's rugby conference. In 2011, the team won the
DII National Championship and has continued to post strong results
since. The team welcomes players of all experience levels
(including those with no experience). Radcliffe currently has about
35 active members and fields an A and B side for every game. Like
almost most college rugby teams, HRRFC operates as a club sport at
Harvard under the guidance of her board and
coaches. Motivated by the ideals of athletic competitiveness,
inclusion, and the development of women’s leadership,
Radcliffe provides the undergraduate women of Harvard with a unique
opportunity to develop both as athletes and as individuals.
