Harvard Real Tennis Club
Overview: Dating from early-modern France, Real Tennis (known as Court Tennis in the U.S.) is the ancestor sport from which all modern racquet sports descend. Today, the sport has a following of roughly 10,000 members and is played on fewer than fifty specialized indoor courts in Australia, England, France, and the U.S. respectively. Boston boasts one historic court, located in the Tennis and Racquet Club in Back Bay, affording us a unique opportunity to introduce the game to Harvard students. To this end, we seek to promote and teach the sport of Real Tennis within the Harvard community through introductory clinics and subsidization of student memberships to the club.
