Maintain, Don’t Gain!
A Community Holiday Weight-Maintenance Initiative
November 17th 2010-January 28th 2011

This program is open to the entire Harvard Community. Membership to the Recreation facilities is not required. Community members without membership may utilize the facility to participate in program events.

THE GOAL:
Maintain your pre-holiday weight through the Holiday Season!

HOW TO PARTICIPATE:
Form a team of 4-6 participants & register your team online or at the front desk of the MAC or Hemenway Gymnasium between November 8th-November 17th. Forms can be emailed to Cristina at hemfit@fas.harvard.edu or dropped off at the MAC or Hemenway front desk.

Individuals are welcome to participate in this program. Please complete the individual registration form and we will form a team for you.

Registration forms will be posted on this webpage on Friday, November 5th.

The first 75 participants to register for Maintain Don't Gain will receive a welcome bag filled with goodies!

Once your team is registered please attend one of the designated weigh-ins. We require that each team member weighs in and out during one of the designated times. We will not allow participants to be weighed at outside locations.

EVENTS SCHEDULE:

We will kick off another year of Maintain Don't Gain on Wednesday, November 17th from 5:00-8:00pm in the MAC Lobby. At this event teams will be able to weigh in between 5:00-7:00pm. Come by this event for many complimentary services including Blood Pressure screenings, chair massage, BOSU balance contests, mini stress ball massage demonstration by Dawn Warner & MORE!

From 7:00-7:55pm we will continue this event in the MAC Mezzanine with Healthy for the Holidays Bootcamp. Each team member that participantes in the workout will receive a raffle ticket. If you have 3 or more participants from your team at the workout your team will be entered into the team raffle.

Thursday, 11/18 7:30-8:25am at the Center for Wellness

Friday, 11/19 12:00-1:00pm at Hemenway Gymnasium lobby

BONUS WORKOUTS

We are pleased to offer complimentary BONUS workouts to help you stay on track this holiday season. Individuals will receive a raffle ticket for each bonus event they attend. Teams are encouraged to participate in these events together! If 3 or more participants from your team attend the same workout, you will be entered into the team raffle.

Harvard Recreation & the Center for Wellness are offering complimentary classes to keep you on track this holiday season!

These bonus workouts are geared towards reducing stress,  teaching you exercises that you can do anywhere and burning extra calories!

Pre-registration is STRONGLY recommended. Registration is available at the front desk of each facility. You may also register by emailing Dawn at macfit@fas.harvard.edu or Cristina at hemfit@fas.harvard.edu.

  Thursday, December 16th 1:00-2:00pm UHS Monks Library 2nd Floor- Massage Workshop Come learn and experience some of the most beneficial techniques for relieving muscle tension and stress!
Taught by a licensed massage therapist, Dawn Slack you will learn self massage techniques using your hands, elbows and a 'pinkie ball'! Relax, enjoy and unwind while learning some good self care!

RULES & LOGISTICS:

Teams of 4-6 people, all weigh in and get a total team starting weight. Teams must MAINTAIN their total team weight within 2lbs per person.  Example:  if a team of 4 weighed in at 600 lbs (each team member weighed in at exactly 150 lbs), then that team would need to weigh out at 592 – 608. 

Teams with all members that weigh-in and weigh-out while maintaining their total team weight will be entered into the team raffle.

In addition to maintaining your weight you can earn raffle tickets to increase your chances of winning. During the program participants can earn raffle tickets by:

  • 1 ticket for every PT session purchased (if you buy a 10 pack you will receive 10 tickets)
  • 1 ticket for every event attended (Boot camp, Band workout, etc.)
  • 1 ticket for the selected GX class during that designated week:
