AROUND THE CHARLES IN 63
DAYS
Objective:
It takes 17 miles to complete a lap around the Charles River
Esplanade. Participate in 17 supervised workouts between July
1st- August 4th at Hemenway Gymnasium & the Malkin Athletic
Center to complete 1 lap around the Charles River. Earn a prize for
every training log that you complete.
How it works:
Register online until June 28th.
Once you register pick up a training
log from either MAC or Hemenway at the front desk, whichever is
most convenient for you. Training logs will be available beginning
June 17th.
Beginning July 1st, attend supervised fitness programs for
credit!
Supervised workouts include Personal
Training sessions, Specialty Classes, & Group Exercise classes.
At the end of each supervised workout you attend, present your
training log to your instructor and they will issue you a
sticker.
One lap around the river
is 17 miles or in this case stickers! Once you earn 17
stickers you will win a prize!
Participants in competition for one of the top 3 finishers may
pick up a 2nd training log at the front desk and work towards
completing another lap around the river! If you are turning
in more than 1 log they must be stapled together in order to
receive a prize. The top 3 finishers who complete the highest
number of supervised workouts will win an additional prize.
Logs may be turned in at any point during the program.

Supervised
Workouts
Each supervised workout is valued at 1 mile. Once you complete a
workout your trainer/instructor will issue you 1 sticker for your
training log.You decide which supervised workouts to complete in
order to fill your training log.
Group Exercise
Classes
The Summer 2013 Group Exercise Schedule will run June
17th-August 11th at the MAC & Hemenway Gymnasium. Each class is
worth 1 mile. Indo-Row & ShockWave classes at the MAC are worth

Personal
Training
Each Personal Training Session is worth 1 mile. Clients will
receive a sticker for their training log at the end of each
workout. Participants interested in purchasing Personal Training
should complete a PT request form. Request forms and additional

Specialty
Classes
Earn stickers by participating in specialty classes. This
includes specialty classes, TRX training, swim classes and Harvard
Slim Down. Participants must register and pay the designated fee
for each course. Each specialty class is worth 1 mile. For

Harvard on the
Move
Harvard On The Move is a University-wide initiative created to
promote physical and psychological wellness though non-competitive
walking and running programs. Harvard On The Move is free and open
to students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as our neighbors in
Cambridge and Boston. Classes meet outside on the steps of the
Malkin Athletic Center (39 Holyoke Street). Routes for both walking
and running will usually be centered around the Charles River
pathways. Each walk/run is worth 1 mile. Only walks/run in the
Cambridge area will be counted.
