SWIM SPECIALTY & SCUBA DIVING CLASSES

No Classes 2/20, 3/4, 3/11 & 3/12

CLASSES AT BLODGETT POOL:

This fun and challenging workout class is designed to introduce the intermediate-level swimmer to drills and swim sets that will build efficiency, speed and endurance. Flip turns included. Deep water comfort required.  Fins are recommended (instructor will advise).

This swim class is for swimmers with basic freestyle and deep water comfort.  You will learn backstroke, breast stroke and butterfly in this class.  Drills and swim sets will help refine your new strokes. Deep water comfort required.  Fins are recommended. (Instructor will advise).

CLASSES AT THE MALKIN POOLS:
This class will cover 2 competitive strokes (Freestyle, Breaststroke ) with a main focus on freestyle efficiency. Flip turns will be taught as well as technique and drill work.

This course will increase your comfort when swimming for extended periods of time, and is designed to assist individuals who are training for distance swimming, a triathlon or pre-masters. You can expect to improve efficiency and build endurance while also learning strategies specific to open water racing. End goal to achieve mental and physical preparation to handle longer distance swimming with confidence.  Deep water comfort required.

This class is designed to help swimmers obtain the basic swimming skills needed to becoming more comfortable and confident In the water. We will cover exploration of shallow water, floating, breathing, balance, resistance, kicking and pulling. No Prerequisite

The principal objective of this class is to help participants pass the Harvard University Swim Test (100 yds) and two minutes of treading water.  Participants will gain confidence in their ability to float and survive in deep water by mastering skills first in shallow water.  Once comfort is achieved, we will start our stroke work with freestyle. Fins are recommended (instructor will advise).

SCUBA DIVING CLASSES AT THE MAC   

Classroom and pool portion of the PADI Open Water SCUBA certification. Course materials are supplied.  Class meets on Wednesday evenings beginning February 15th and runs for 7 weeks at the Malkin Athletic Center.  It will include a 200 yard swim in swim suit only.  On Feb 22nd, you will enjoy your first SCUBA in the pool. All equipment will be supplied for the pool.  Student must have their own mask, fins and snorkels by pool session 3.
